Your Wellbeing, My Obligation

poetry

I’m up to the task of being the spiritual lifeguard when you’re drowning in sorrow,
the temporary pilot when you stray from peace of mind,
the resistance against tragedy and failure when you want to wave the white flag,
the stepping stones to self-awareness after the mental bridge falls,
the safe landing spot at Rock Bottom and the relief to bring back to the surface,
your umbrella for the shit storm,
your ladder for the hellhole,
the force against the gravity of depression,
not for the luxury of saying, “I saved you,” but because I know you will fulfill these tasks in my darkest hour.
